Watchcap. I'm from a rural area in Upstate New York; Ulster County
(between Accord and Kerhonkson). Born 1943.

I don't recall ever hearing _any_ of the words you list. I do recall
it being called a stocking cap. That was in Los Angeles, where it's
not a common article of apparel. Think I heard it from a native of
northern Florida (a bit south of Georgia) -- another place where it's
not likely to be a common article of apparel.

By the way -- I grew up saying "sled" rather than "toboggan".
