<br>    The first RHHDAS citation (from the OEDS) is 1944.  A 1986 citation is:

<br>"(Frank Sinatra) launched a career that made him the idol of what were then
<br>called bobby-soxers."
<br>
<br>    Curiously, the movie THE BACHELOR AND THE BOBBY-SOXER (1947, with Cary
<br>Grant, Myrna Loy, and Shirley Temple) is never mentioned.
<br>    Frank Sinatra gave his famous Paramount concerts in 1941.  I just watched
<br>some of the video of the "bobbysoxers" lining up for tickets.  Didn't the term
<br>originate then?
