<br>earliest for the word is 1982, though a reliable source alleges an earlier
<br>use)--as Barry notes, the word became a phenomenon in 1984. Reports of
<br>the movie say that the characters discuss yuppies at some length, and
<br>comment on "Die Yuppie Scum" graffiti, etc.--all impossible for the "very
<br>early 1980s," however this is interpreted.
