I use 'ink pen' and also merge /I/ and /E/. 'Ink pen' is not my most

common term for that referent, 'pen' is. When it's not clear from the

context, as when someone asks "What kind of /pIn/?", I would use it

without hesitation, quite naturally. I seem to hear it rather frequently

here in Athens, GA, but will keep an ear out for awhile.
