Subject: Re: Dutch Oven

My Dutch oven here in Georgia is a cast iron contraption with a

skillet sized bottom and six inch high sides in which I bake numerous tasty

meals. It's sold with that name in our stores. I had always thought its

name was associated with the numerous ethnic derogatory terms the English

associated with Dutch frugality (Dutch treat, Dutch courage), and since it

originally would have been placed on coals in a fireplace, it was cheap and

portable form of a stove. No offense meant to any Netherlanders out there.
