Funny, as I was putting the dishes away the other day, I thought of the
word "stewer" for the first time in ages. My grandmother said it (b.
1898, rural west Georgia, small farm). It was another of those things
she said that was not easily interpreted by me as a child. It was years
before I could analyze it morhpologically as stew + er; I imagined it as
steuer or something, I guess. One of those words one rarely encounters
in writing.
