Anglepoise, s.v. angle in the SOD: "(proprietary name for) a type if

swivelled reading -lamp with a sprung and jointed arm" -- whatever that

means. I visualize something like the architect's or drafting lamps we use

in the US that can be clipped onto a drawing board and that stay in any

position you place them.
