This is only tangentially related, but a few years ago, I was in a federal

courtroom to watch a corporation (Emerson Electric) plead guilty to felony

fraud charges. No individuals were named. It was just a corporation, acting

alone! Alas for this discussion, I don't think Emerson's masterful attorneys

invented a fitting pronoun. Nor did the judge, who made a number of

sarcastic comments about wishing some person from the corporation would have

shown up, invent a way for the corporation to spend time in jail!
