Growing up in Southern Oklahoma in the 1960's, I used "fever blister" for

exterior lip sores and "canker sores" for inside the mouth. Didn't know "cold

sore" till went away to college (or read Campho-Phenique bottle, perhaps) --

it's not part of my native vocabulary, but it's probably the term I would use

today.
