Subject: hummies



The LAMSAS files for the "name for the sound a cow makes" (what a

fascinating wealth of trivia we have!!) include lots of instances of

"hum" along with "low" and "moo". Some informants distinguish this from

"moo" as the SOFT sound of the animal instead of the loud one. BUT calf

sounds are a different file, with answers like "bawl" and "maa".
