Subject: Fwd: knee-high

I have been doing some looking about at Americanism lately. One I found

listed with several variants was _knee-high to a toad_ and _knee-high to a

mosquito_ and _knee-high to a frog_ and _knee-high to a duck_ and even

_knee-high to nothing_. I was born in the Chicaog area and spent most of my

childhood in the New York City area. The expression for me was always

_knee-high to a grasshopper_.

My query to anyone interested is: Is this regional or just subject to wild

variation?
