Subject: Start/Begin ???

Hello All !!
First of all, I would like to tell you all, that my English is
really poor. So, I want to apologize in advance. You would have
to understand how scared I am.

The question is: I always doubt when I have to use the
verb "Start" or the verb "Begin" to describe some action or
activity (or whatever) I am doing or I did. Briefly, I don't
know when I have to use "Start" or when I have to use "Begin".

Is there a sort of rule that helps me in those situations ?
-examples will help a lot-
