Dear Gwyn,

About 10-12 years ago a Public Broadcasting Series on language entitled

"The Story of English" was produced with popular PBS presenter Robert MacNeil as

"host" as we say. These tapes might be interesting to your students because

they included the speech of a number of varieties of English [their preferred

term over dialect] both here in the US as well as GB, Aus & NZ, India &c.

There's also a companion text.
