And what about "gawmy"? I spelled it as it is

pronounced, for I have never seen it written.

I have no idea what it means--but it is used

to describe people, perhaps who are a bit on the

awkward side. But this, again, is a guess. I have

heard it in Wyoming, Utah, and also the Northeast.
