Subject: SNEAKERS vs.PLIMPSOLES (Bounced Mail)

It is (or used to be) regional. The Brits cal them PLIMPSOLES. There was an

article about this in AMERICAN SPEECH several years ago. Check it out

Is the "sneaker"-"tennis shoe" distinction purely regional? Do some

people use both with a different meaning attached to each? I come from

insight?
