err, ahh, 'seige' WOULD be an exception, IF we spelled it that way...

The way I learned it was, "i" before "e" except after "c", or when sounds
like /ey/, as in "neighbor" and "neigh." "Either", "neither", "weird",
"leisure", and "seige" are 5 exceptions, if you please.
