I am equally surprised when I hear people make a distinction between the

two names. So, yes, there are other parts of the country where the names

are pronounced the same. I'm an Oregonian, BTW.

BTW, I come from Chicago, and "Dawn" rhymes with "lawn" and "Don"

rhymes with "on." I assume those words aren't pronounced the same

way around the country.
