I really don't like being put in a position to feel that I have to defend

myself publicly, and I regret that I feel that way now.



Because I assisted the producers of "American Tongues," they kindly GAVE ME

a copy of the completed tape. As soon as the tape became commercially

availale, I ordered a copy for the library, may or may not have been

"authorized" (whatever that means). but which was paid for in the usual fashion

and at the full commercial rate.



I am delighted to know that Walt Wolfram prepareed a fuller index and that he

was compensated for doing so. I hope that I will someday have an

opportunity to see Walt's index and perhaps incorporate it into my own

teaching.
