Calling all phoneticians--

    The [x] (NOT /x/) in <loch> and <geen> SHOULDN'T be the same, given

the difference in phonetic environment, even if they were in the same language.

Cf. the [k]'s in <lock> and <keep> (ignoring the aspiration), both /k/.
