I presume there was a trade name of Woolworth's Five and Ten Cent

Store which

everyone called The Five and Ten. Well, almost everyone. Some called it The

Five and Dime. What did you call it where you are from?

In Los Angeles (60's & 70's), I heard "dime store" more than "five

and dime." "Five and ten" was unheard of. With inflation, all of

the above seemed to drop out of usage in the 70's. Now I'm seeing

dollar stores popping up. We'll see if they catch on.
