<br>    greater with 'poor').  I think I switched to [pur] for 'poor' as I got
<br>    (hyper?)educated; in southern Ohio I use either form and no longer
<br>    worry about it.  (A reverse corollary is that I no longer strain to say
<br>    [ruf] for 'roof'; Northern [rUf] is OK again, after all those years of
<br>    switching.)
