Subject: Re: "doubled perfect"

'Side trac(k)ted' _may_ arise from a confusion of 'track' and 'tract';
thus the latter becomes regular past/p.p. 'tracted.' Admittedly, I
haven't heard 'tract' used as a verb, but we had a former colleague (no
names) who said and wrote 'tract' for our dual-track linguistics
program: thus, we have a theoretical tract and an applied tract.
Anyone else ever encounter this?!
