Hi, y'all. Something new to track down, this one per request of Linda
Shrieves, the de facto pop linguistics columnist of the Orlando Sentinel, who
helped make the quest for ...NOT famous a little over a year ago. This time
she's wondering if anyone can track down the source, or at least a
representative sample of early citations, for "Been there. Done that." as now
used in, inter alia, commercials and no doubt popular movies and TV shows. It
seems to me that I've come across a reference (Safire? Something here or on
Linguist?) but I can't recall where or what. You can mail to me (at the
above address) or to the list. Thanks.
Larry
