Chapter 2 (I think) of Derek Bickerton's LANGUAGE AND SPECIES contains one

of the most thought-provoking discussions I have seen of myths about

language (despite the fact that in my review of it--DIACHRONICA 1991) I

expressed a lot of reservations about the main theses of the book).
