Subject: NPR Pronunciation
I listen to National Public Radio in the morning for the news, and have
noticed some peculiar pronunciations. Can anyone tell me if these are
local oddities, or are they spreading?
"O" pronounced as the diphthong "AO", as in local="laocal."
"A" pronounced as "eye", as in today="to-dye," with a distinct
"creaking" sound for the "eye".
