The evidence in the DARE files shows "tunket," as in "hot as tunket," "cold

as tunket," "where in tunket," "by tunket," etc. to be a distinctly New

England word. W3 says it's probably a euphemism for "tophet." In any case,

it substitutes for "hell," "the devil," "tarnation," etc.
