I've had very good fortune using Cindy Bernstein's anthology, The Text

and Beyond, U Ala 1994; this is a collection of (from the subtitle)

'essays in literary linguistics' that combines well with any of several

linguistics texts or compilations, and also works well with course-paks

of articles/chapters,depending on the slant of the course.
