At this point, I don't even remember what the suggested change

was--it probably had to do with verbing nouns, or something. I

was reacting mostly to the tone, with its implication not merely

that we copyeditors can influence the prose people see, but that

we somehow have the right and ability to hold a meeting, decide

what the usage should be, and enforce that.
