I only know what I learned in the school, but it seems to me that

professors who've ventured to say OFFAL in class rhymed the first syllable

with OAF. This is the ignorant pronunciation I use while teaching about

Dante's Thais, who is covered in AWFUL OFFAL for flattery as a courtesan.
