I'd just recently come across the latter explanation (i.e., that the

"H" was a re-interpreted eta); I thought it was in Gerald Cohen's

_Comments on Etymology_, but I could not find it this morning.

Anyone out there have similar reading material, but a better memory

(or filing system)?
