In school the teachers tried insuccessfully to get us to say "drought" like folks from away. I also pronounce trough as "trouth." (rhymes with wroth or Roth). Noah Webster's prescriptions didn't penetrate very far into the back country. My relatives back still use "drouth," but "trouth" has gone the way of the buggy whip holder and for the same reason.
