I worked as a temporary secretary for the vice president of a bank in Durham,

N.C. for a while in 1981 or so. He regularly gave me tapes to transcribe in

which he would talk about "gummint bidnis." He never made the distinction

between any sense of business/bidnis. I don't think he even realized he was not

saying business.
