I lived in Amherst, MA for the better part of the 80's myself, and the

word "packy" was so ubiquitous when referring to going on a booze run

that I was surprised to not hear it anywhere else. I never hear it in

Vermont, where I now live. I'm not even sure what the equivalent here is,

since I haven't had a drink in years and I know very few people well here

who drink more than occasionally.
