Back in my high school days, late fifties, we had a whole series of humorous,

in a sophomoronic way, "meanwhile, back the"'s. The only one that I remember

today is, "meanwhile back at the oasis, the Arabs were eating their dates".



You had to be there.



I was. Jackson, Mississippi, high school graduation 1961. I remember

"meanwhile back at the oasis" well.
