I also prefer not to stress a model too much. This essay was an

assigned reading in one of their textbooks, so it made sense to

use it as one possible example. Perhaps I was just lucky because

the students did not slavishly follow the example. I also talked

with the students about different ways in which they could organize

their essays. I don't use previous students' essays for this

assignment or any othrs because I think students do tend to

think of that example as the only successful example.
