I think it can be interpreted either way. It depends on whether the clause is

referring to "the fictions" or only to "one of" them.



This doesn't really fall into the common mistake many people make of giving

the verb the same number as the noun closest to it (as in the example of the

three cats sitting on the porch). Here, it depends on the intention of the

speaker, and I would interpret either verb as correct.
