I grew up in Mississippi and Tennessee, and as a child and pre-pubescer

both _sissy_ and _tomboy_ had no connotations of sexual preference for me;

of course, the term _sexual preferences_ had no con- or denotations of

sexual preferences, either. A lot of us were naive in those not-so-good-old

-days.
