My recollection of "gearhead" is that it referred to someone who was into

automobiles, mechanically speaking, maybe even specially racing cars.

Also, there are "Deadheads" in the non-railroad sense, for the followers of

the Grateful Dead, although I assume, with the demise of Garcia, they may

finally be, literally, a dying breed.
