I was visiting a friend in Northeast Philly recently, sitting on a

stoop and enjoying some late warm weather, and I heard a mother next

door calling for her daughter, "Portia." I thought, how lovely, in

this disadvantaged neighborhood, to hear a Shakespearean name. My

friend laughed at me and corrected me (called me a blockhead in fact,

but that's another thread)--the girl's name was "Porsche". I was

crushed.
