There is some truth to this, but only some. The problem seems to arise if

you are running Office 97 -- MSIE4 overwrites necessary Office files, and,

when uninstalled, fails to restore them... or something. I do know people

who have turned off desktop integration with no problems at all. Go figure.



There's an official microsoft.public.inetexplorer.ie4 usenet newsgroup that

deals with all these questions.

I've gotten a warning about Internet Explorer 4 for windows95--apparently

if you remove the program after integrating it into your desktop, it will

fry W95.



Personally, I'm a mac person, but I thought some of you folks might like to

know about this.
