I disagree. Even once is too much. What's wrong with it is it puts lots of

readers off because it sounds stiff or snooty or whatever you want to call

it. Not everybody, but lots. It's as though someone were saying VAHZ for

vase. Besides its not needed- there's usually lots of alternatives. On

further investigation, my students tell me their high school students

insisted that they not use "we" as in "we can see from the the poet's use of

aliteration..." and they recommend "one" instead.
