Subject: double negatives

Liudmila Kostiukevich writes:

In Russian two negatives can be

used without making meaning

of the sentence positive. Moreover,

the use of two negetives are very

often and they even strenghten

the negation.

I ain't got no doubts about the truth of this, but it is also true of most

varieties of English--though for a couple of centuries many "educated" people

have pretended that it is not.
