 Bougainvilla is a South American shrub in the Nyctaginaceae family (four

o'clock or Marvel-of-Peru). It was named after a French navigator :(De

Bougainville, 1729-1811). I found the info in Bailey's, The Standard

Cyclopedia of Horticulture vol. 1, MacMillan Co., NY 1927.
