"Dining hall" always worked for me. If nothing else, it's two

syllables shorter than "cafeteria," which is an advantage for a

word you use a lot. (In practice, we mostly referred to them by

name, as in "I had lunch in Commons," or "I'll meet you for dinner

in Branford." But the shows put on in the dining halls were

collectively "dining hall theater," not "cafeteria theater.")
