In 1919 they were innocent enough not to realize they would need to number
them (that's not an original comment from me; I read or heard it somewhere).
They also called it "the Great War" before 1939ff., according to my memory
of my reading on the subject.

Now that JS is gone, do we start the conga line? O -- I forgot about Terry
Irons. Forget I said that.
