My eight-year-old girl pronounces her friend Ashley's name as ASH-uh-lee.

What's happening with these epenthetic schwas?

My two-year-old daughter inserts a schwa to avoid naking /g/ or /k/

contiguous with a following /d/. She gets excited everytime we pass a

[m[AT SYMBOL GOES HERE]gxdanxlz] ([AT SYMBOL GOES HERE] = ash, x = schwa). Her happy meal yesterday had a toy she

calls [ranxld + m[AT SYMBOL GOES HERE]gxdanxld]. But then she likes to eat macajoonie and

cheeze and begs to use her teethbruss.
