This has been an amazing thread. I would have guessed that it is not

even possible for speakers of English to pronounce the /l/ in words

like 'folklore.' I am relatively certain that I do not pronounce the

/l/ in any 'lk' words.

_Any_ "lk" words? Really? What about "milk" or "balk"?

How about "lm" words like "calm" and "film"? "Palm"?



I've been discussing this thread with friends, and I, too,

am amazed at the variety of pronunciations I have found.
