the below-described is a "stoop" in my lexicon, supposedly a Hudson
Valley term, not a southernism.

bungalow-apron is the little porch outside a small house, usually with 2-3
steps and a small roof or overhang...not big enough to be a big porch for
chairs where people could sit and chew the fat (visit).
