    I remember about six or eight years ago, in the LA Times an

article about Franglais. Instead of "le zapping" it talked about "le

zappeur" which is the person channel surfing, *not* the remote control.

I just moved from LA to DC, so I may have purged that article from my

belongings, but I'll try to dig it up and give you the citation. It may

have the origin you're looking for.
