ADS-L Digest - 7 Oct 1997 to 8 Oct 1997 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Mon, 13 Oct 1997 14:13:40 +0200 From: Michela & Roberto Subject: Hoosier etimology; Mr. Popick's posts. Dear fellows contributors to this list... About "Hoosier" etimology: many (well, 9) years ago I tried to date a girl from Indianapolis and I asked her about "Hoosier"... She told me it was a kind of a dialectical contraction of "Who's your...?", referred to a question asked in Indiana about who was your favourite candidate for U.S. President. I don't know... it sounded trivial... too simple? I'm sorry for Mr Popick. I say, what's wrong with life story anecdotes? "Homo sum; nihil umanum a me alienum puto." (Terenzius) - I'm a man. I don't think anithing related to man is unrelated to me - Mr Popick, cheer up if you can.
